A Giant Oarfish, the worlds longest bony fish, was found today in Sweden. The Oarfish, also known as the "giant herring," hasn't been seen in Sweden for over 130 years.
The giant oarfish washed up on a beach in Sweden, and was taken to the House of the Sea Museum in Lysekil, Sweden.
"The last time we saw a King of Herrings in Sweden was in 1879. We don't know much about the species, but believe it lives in deep waters, at least 1000 meters (3280 feet) deep, and many believe it's at the origin of the sea serpent myth," the House of the Sea Museum said in a statement.
The giant oarfish can grow up to 40 feet long. The one found in Sweden was 11 feet long.
Here is a video of some Giant Oarfish that have been caught on tape.
