Nick Bell, Mississippi State: Well done, and a fine athlete. In 20 years, Bessemer native Nick Bell, his life ahead. “He was lucky enough to be recruited to Mississippi, where he used his soccer skills to get a scholarship,” his mother, Linda Bell said. “He was there, he enjoyed every moment. All kinds of friends and family around. He lived a dream. And then … and then a headache. And then test, then the conclusions.” Doctors operated to remove a cancerous tumor. His family thought it was an end to the headache returned. Within weeks, Nick has passed. “It was a beautiful boy.” His death will not be last we know about him, “Nick Bell said. “This is something that should benefit the rest of the world.”
