UPDATE: Kentucky coach John Calipari told Andy Katz that he has received signed papers from Terrence Jones.
Terrence Jones has reportedly signed a financial aid agreement with Kentucky, with the change of heart coming nearly three weeks after he verbally committed to Washington at a news conference.
In a stunning turn of events reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com, the star 6-foot-9 forward might have given John Calipari the nation's No. 1 recruiting class on the heels of losing five players to the NBA draft.
Signing a financial aid agreement rather than a national letter of intent does not bind Jones to Kentucky, and he could still conceivably reconsider once again. This possibility would be difficult to completely rule out given that Jones on April 30 chose a Washington Huskies cap in a news conference at his high school, but held off on signing anything and ultimately reopened his recruitment.
Jones still stands to become the second recruit along with Turkish center Enes Kanter that Calipari has lured to Kentucky after previously being committed to Lorenzo Romar and Washington.
Kanter, Brandon Knight, Doron Lamb, Stacey Poole have officially signed, and the Wildcats also have a verbal commitment from junior college player Eloy Vargas.
Losing Jones would not be devastating to Washington's recruiting class, which included Jones' teammate Terrence Ross. But it does take away some of the good vibes from last season's team that went to the Sweet 16.
