Pi Beta Phi

Apparently the Pi Beta Phi sorority bad behavior reported in Ohio has a precedent. The Miami University chapter of Pi Beta Phi was suspended after causing damage to an events center during a formal event, and now the Ohio University chapter is accused of similar behavior. Is this a case of girls gone wild, or of an events center trying to take advantage of a situation? The Ohio University chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority is being accused of causing over $45,000 of damage to the Parkersburg Art Center after their winter formal was held there. Some of the behavior that the girls are accused of includes food fights, theft, and damage to a sink after a couple tried to have sex on it.

This isn’t the first time that this type of sorority bad behavior has been reported from a Pi Beta Phi chapter. You can read more about the alleged damage to the art center, and see a video promoting Pi Beta Phi, below.

According to reports the amount of damage to the Parkersburg Art Center totaled $46,555 in damage. The sorority is denying the claims and has stated:

“The chapter believes the claims of damage made by the Art Center have been grossly exaggerated,” and the Art Center has failed to provide documentation for why it should keep the $1,200 deposit and receive the more than $46,000 it is seeking, the sorority’s statement said. “We expect that our chapters and their members will conduct themselves in compliance with our rules and the law. We also respect their right to defend against unfair and undocumented claims.”

A lawyer for the Art Center claims that during the winter formal there were food fights, drinks spilled, and a sink was damaged during a couple’s attempt to have sex on the sink. Sounds like a classy event. The sorority did admit that an individual did steal some beer taps from the center, but claims that they have since been returned.
