Marilyn Monroe Playboy

57 years ago, Hugh Hefner imagined a new, better experience for Playboy readers: 3D centerfolds. After all, “What would people most like to see in 3D?” Hef concluded, “Probably a naked lady.” And the successful creator of Playboy magazine was right. He approached Marilyn Monroe with the idea in 1953, but unfortunately the plan fell through. It was too expensive to include the 3D glasses in every issue. Monroe was still the centerfold that year, and I’m sure she looked just as good without the 3D effect.

This year, Hefner’s vision for the 3D photographs will officially be complete with Playboy’s June issue. Playmate of the Year Hope Dworaczyk will be the first woman with a nude 3D centerfold. The 3D pictures were created using multiple simultaneous camera shots and angles. Dworaczyk is following in the footsteps of Marilyn Monroe, but she will be achieving what Monroe did not. What could be more exciting?
