Not a good way to start a Sunday morning. Waking up to an inbox full of "tips" that rock legend RONNIE JAMES DIO had passed away, thankfully that "news" has proven to be nothing more than false, rumor-driven internet babble. DIO, who recently revealed that he's been undergoing treatment for stomach cancer since last year, is in the hospital but is not "Hungry for Heaven" just yet. After various sources began falsely reporting his death, WENDY DIO, both wife and manager to the singer, posted the following message on Ronnie's official Twitter account: "Don't believe the rumors, Ronnie is still hanging in there!!! Hugs, Wendy Dio"
RONNIE JAMES DIOIn addition, metal site Blabbermouth.net also reached out to Wendy last night and received the following message in response:
"I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing good, but he is not dead. I will let you know if anything changes. Thank you for your concern."
The 67 year-old singer has been undergoing treatment for his illness for at least six months, as revealed on the red carpet at the REVOLVER GOLDEN GOD AWARDS. Earlier this month, forthcoming tour dates for HEAVEN AND HELL were canceled to allow Dio to continue his treatment uninterrupted.
