Reports have surfaced that the company that produces Tylenol has announced the sudden withdrawal of over-the-counter liquid medications for infants and children in the Untied States.
After the announcement, chemists across the state have withdrawn all unexpired lots of Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl. In total, some 43 liquid products have been withdrawn from the market. Medical experts say that this has created a chaos in the market as parents are consulting doctors for the substitution. Besides, they are also scouring Internet for further information. The medicines have been withdrawn after news broke off that it carries inactive ingredients that are not good for health.
This has been also confirmed by the US Food and Drug Administration. Their officials have asked parents not to give this medicine to their children who suffer aches and pains. Besides, parents bank on it for solving children ailments including fevers and allergy-associated runny noses and sneezes.
However, many parents in Chicago are antsy with the development. They have no idea how to deal with the situation.
Julia Goebel, a mother of two toddlers who is monitoring the situation, said: "I have to think if they're going to recall these major blockbuster kid drugs, there's more to it. I'm just going to toss it," said Beverly Singleton, an Oak Park grandmother who keeps Children's Motrin in her medicine chest for her grandchildren's visits. "I don't want to take any chances."
