Monday was a horrific day for Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky as the banks of the Nashville River overflowed into a flood that was caused by flash storms on the weekend. The flood was deadly enough to kill 28 people in the three states. The storms were truly incredible and the flood started on Monday evening.
People of all three states didn’t expect such a powerful flood and that is why a lot were caught in the flood and died. Many people fled as the flood started and many used their own boats to stay behind and rescue other people. The flood was so enormous that the local authorities couldn’t do anything at the time of the flood.

Many people took refuge in high schools and some took refuge in the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. However the Opryland hotel also got flooded 10 feet with water. As Nashville is known to be the Country Music Capital, many musical landmarks were flooded destroying a lot of musical records and instruments.

The flood water seeped into the streets of Nashville after overflowing the river bank and many restaurants and shops were immediately closed.

Authorities say that apart from the deaths already witnessed the death toll is feared to increase. Many people who weren’t expecting the disaster lost their homes and their businesses in form of shops and property. Many lost their loved ones. A woman in Nashville said that she lost her job shortly before the flood and now that her home was also destroyed by the flood she doesn’t know what to do because she doesn’t have flood insurance.
