Patrick Ramsey: The Dolphins managed to beat the Titans Sunday, despite losing both new starter Chad Pennington (shoulder) and Chad Henne (knee) to likely season-ending injuries. As a result, Tyler Thigpen had to play the role of unexpected hero.
But even if Thigpen is the answer at starter for the rest of the season, the Dolphins need to bring in bodies to fill out the depth chart. According to reports, they were on the phone with a few notable names right away. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the team reached out to Patrick Ramsey (pictured, who Mortensen says the Dolphins hope to sign) and Chris Simms, while FOX's Josina Anderson reports that they also contacted JaMarcus Russell.
Ramsey has spent time this season with the Jaguars and was a member of the Saints in training camp. Simms was released by the Titans over the summer and last started a game in 2009 with the Broncos. Russell, meanwhile, is the famous draft flop who reportedly worked out for the Redskins in early November.
The Dolphins host the Bears in Week 11. At 5-4 and in third place in the AFC East, the Dolphins have to hope to get better-than-average play out of the position to remain in the playoff hunt, no matter who's under center.
