Michael Douglas got a big victory in a Manhattan court today when a judge threw out his ex-wife's claim that she's owed a cut of the money he made for filming a sequel to Wall Street.

"He's thrilled," Douglas' lawyer, Marilyn Chinitz, said. "This is the right decision...This action should have never been brought in the first place."

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper ruled that a New York court was not the proper venue for the suit by Diandra Douglas. There was no ruling on the merit of the case. Diandra could repeal or refile in California, where the two were divorced.

Her lawyer, Nancy Chemtob, said, "We respectfully disagree with the decision, and intend to appeal. Both parties are residents of New York, and the case should be decided here."

Diandra said Douglas owed her because the original Wall Street was made while the two were married. Verbiage in the divorce said Diandra was owed any money from "spinoffs" of Douglas' work while they were married.

Michael's lawyer says that doesn't count because Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was a sequel and not a spinoff.
