LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Michael Douglas, who is undergoing treatment for throat cancer, says he is very optimistic and has about an 80% chance of recovery.
The 65-year-old actor said he was diagnosed three weeks ago with stage 4 cancer after realising something was wrong early this summer when he came down with a "really sore throat."
Douglas, who was on 'Late Show With David Letterman', said he just finished his first week of radiation and chemotherapy and "that it's about an eight-week struggle."
The actor said that throat cancer is caused by alcohol and drinking and admitted to having done both. The cancer hasn't spread below the neck, "so nothing's gone down, and the expectations are good," Douglas said, adding, "the percentages are really good I hate to say it but it looks like it is about 80%".
