MONTEREY, Calif. – Authorities say California artist Thomas Kinkade spent a night in jail after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

California Highway Patrol officials said Monday that Kinkade was pulled over outside Carmel and arrested by a CHP officer just after 10 p.m. Friday

CHP Officer Robert Lehman says the 52-year-old Kinkade was booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving. He was released Saturday morning.

Kinkade is famous for his paintings of cottages, country gardens and churches in dewy morning light.

The Thomas Kinkade Co. said in a statement it was reviewing the allegation. The company noted it wasn't speaking on behalf of the artist, and said Kinkade has been advised by his lawyer not to comment.

Chile has been as advertised, refreshingly so.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team has attacked throughout the first half against Honduras and take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Winger Jean Beausejour was the goal scorer, finishing from the edge of the six yard box in the 34th minute.

Chile has had 70 percent of the first half possession, holding Honduras to one shot on goal.

Megan Fox Tattoo

Megan Fox costars with Mickey Rourke in the upcoming thriller 'Passion Play,' and he had such an impact on her that she got inked in his honor.

"I actually got a tattoo that is sort of in honor of him," she told MTV News. "It's on my ribs. I don't know if it's been photographed yet, but it'll come out eventually, I'm sure. I just love him very much and think he's very special."

You can see photos of Megan's new tattoo here. There are a bunch of words, but they are hard to read. Leave your interpretation in the comments.

Megan already has several tattoos including the Shakespeare quote 'We will all laugh at gilded butterflies' on her shoulder blade.

Perez Hilton Miley Cyrus

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is in hot water Tuesday (June 15) after posting a photo of Miley Cyrus to his Twitter feed. In the picture, which Hilton warned readers not to view if they were easily offended, Cyrus is shown exiting a car, seemingly sans underwear.

"If you are easily offended, do NOT click here," he tweeted. "Oh, Miley! Warning: truly not for the easily offended!"

The public reaction to Hilton posting the photo — which he later removed — was fierce and quick. Hilton defended himself via a video he posted on his website, claiming the photo didn't show what everyone thought it did.

"Miley was clearly wearing underwear," Hilton says in the video. "Do you think Miley is that stupid to be out in public without panties?" Hilton claimed he only posted the photo to make light of the fact that the teen pop queen was getting out of the car in "a very un-ladylike fashion."

"Sure, I like to be controversial," he said. "But I don't want to go to jail."

Salon.com consulted L.A.-based criminal defense attorney Jeffrey Douglas, who specializes in child-pornography cases. Douglas deemed Hilton's liability "extraordinary and intense," calling his decision to publish the photo "suicidal." "We're not talking about a misdemeanor," Douglas told the site. "You don't have to know what the definition of the law is; all you have to do is knowingly distribute the photograph."

The Disney star herself seemed to be handling the controversy when she called into Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Tuesday morning. Cyrus pointed out that the incident is oddly timed with the release of her upcoming album, Can't Be Tamed.

"Isn't it funny that things like that, that are so negative, have to come out right before my record?" she told Seacrest. "It's like no one can let positive things happen. All I do is focus on the positive, and I hope this record does well."

Do you think Perez is telling the truth or backtracking? Let us know in the comments.

Jimmy Dean

(CNN) -- Country music artist and sausage entrepreneur Jimmy Dean died at his home in Varina, Virginia, Sunday evening, police said. He was 81.

Dean, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, was with his wife Donna at the time of his death, which appears to be from natural causes, said R.J. Clark of the Henrico County Police department.

Musically, Dean is best known for his song "Big Bad John," which made it to No. 1 on both the country and pop charts in 1961, and was honored with a Grammy. His narrative style of song also produced hits like "Little Black Book" and "P.T. 109" -- a song about John F. Kennedy's command in the South Pacific during World War II.

Starting in 1963, he hosted a successful variety show on ABC called "The Jimmy Dean Show," which ran for three years. Regulars on the program included Roger Miller and puppeteer Jim Henson, making Rowlf -- a piano-playing dog -- an early Muppet favorite.

In the late 1960s Dean also appeared regularly on the NBC series "Daniel Boone." He played Boone's friend Josh Clements.

At about the same time, Dean started the Jimmy Dean Meat Company in the late 1960s. Dean eventually sold his meat company to Sara Lee Foods in 1984, but remained its chairman and TV spokesman, which kept him in the public eye until recent years.

Dean was born Seth Ward in Olton, Texas, on August 10, 1928. His mom taught him piano starting at age 10, but he also learned how to play the guitar, harmonica, and accordion.

After his discharge from the Air Force in 1948 he put together a band called the Texas Wildcats and played in the Washington D.C. area

"We played every dive in Washington at one time or another," Dean said in his biography on the Country Music Hall of Fame website. "And dives is what they were."

Dean was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year.

Justin Bieber Syphilis

Because gullible is written on your ceiling (welcome back, see there isn’t anything up there) someone started a rumor that Justin Bieber had died on Friday. As if that wasn’t enough to make you lunge for Google, someone started another rumor that Justin Bieber has syphilis. This is about as true as the rumor that he died.

The rumor stems from a unfounded rumor on a random site in which the tagline instructs girls to drop their panties. They provided no “proof” or information beyond: “It has come to my attention that singer Justin Bieber has contracted Syphilis from an unknown girl, I knew that little slut had it coming in the end.”

So, consider the non-source and go back to doodling Mrs. Bieber on your notebook or whatever it is tweens do these days to live out fantasies. Of course, today I was unfortunate enough to witness a mother and her daughter getting ready to shank each other of the last Team Edward top at the clearance rack at Wal-Mart so you can stop fashioning your toothbrush into a weapon and go hunting for some syphilis spreading ho.

You can check out Justin Bieber having a diva moment and telling an Australian reporter: “Don’t f**king touch me!” by clicking HERE.

World Cup Opening Day

The 2010 FIFA World Cup competition got underway in South Africa Friday, as the host team's national soccer team faced off against Mexico. Over two billion viewers are expected to watch some part of the month-long competition, which involves over 200 teams.

A pier on the Hudson River was festooned with Mexican flags, McDonalds paraphernalia and giant television screens, as the first of many public viewing events sponsored by the restaurant chain began to wind down. One couple traveled to New York from Long Island to be with other Mexican Americans for the first game.

"We saw the commercial and we said "Hey! Let's go have fun. We had the day off. We can go over there. Enjoy, and everybody is here." And also McDonalds. So it's good. It's fun. Everything comes together," said the man.

Technically speaking, MacDonalds' spokesman Marcelo Fajnerman, a Uruguayan American, was on hand to make sure the food was plentiful and the sodas flowed. But it was clear that, for him, today was about far more than work. He says people the world over love World Cup soccer, but that Latinos feel a special passion.

"We are born and raised and bred with soccer. Soccer is what everyone plays [and] what everyone watches. The countries in Latin America, when their national teams play, they stop. School stops. They take all the kids out of the class and they watch the game all together. The country stops. So that's how it is… with your national team, with your national pride," he said.

For Jaime Camil, the famous Mexican soap opera star and international heartthrob whom McDonald's invited to host today's party, Mexico's national pride was neither hurt nor helped by the game's final score, which ended with a one to one tie. "As you know, Mexico played against the home team, South Africa. It was a very good game, actually. They stole a goal from us. That's not nice, of course. But we dominated the first half of the game," he said.

Like Camil, a 20-something Mexican woman came here to see the game, but the star became a compelling distraction. "He's very handsome. You can't deny that," she said.

The fun is just beginning. The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to conclude On July 10th 2010. The final game of the quadrennial tournament is expected to draw over two billion viewers worldwide.

Bovine Johnes Disease is a persistent disease in cattle caused by bacteria. It has a long incubation period that causes persistent diarrhea which then leads to emaciation and death. The disease is under legislation and any suspected outbreak should be immediately reported to the Biosecurity Queensland.
The court had already imposed fines with a total of $114, 000 on companies and individuals that will crossed cattles which do not have health clearances into the Queensland border.
Recently, there were five different parties accused by the Goondiwindi Magistrates Court of illegally bringing 198 cattles into Queensland within the Bovine Johnes Disease Control Zone.
“Our beef industry is worth $3.38 billion in 2010 and bringing stock into Queensland without the proper permits could put the industry at risk,” stated Mr Tim Mulherin, Queensland Minister for Primary Industries.

Family Watch Dog

Today, several reports about child molestations, abductions and other sexually related crimes proliferate across the globe and majority of which are initiated via the internet.
In the U.S. the National Sex Offenders Registry developed Family Watch Dog. It is a website that contains information about the whereabouts of sexual predators and their complete identities.

However, Family Watch Dog isn’t limited to listing sex offenders alone. It also contains information about identity thefts, information about security you can do to protect your children from cyber-related sex crimes and forums which will keep you up to date with the latest information about these criminals
Technology advancement is a good thing. However, some malicious individuals are using it to their advantage in order to lure innocent teenagers and other naïve individuals. Most identity thefts and sex offences start with online interaction via social networking site like Facebook and MySpace or online chat sites.
Other clever hackers use various types of spywares and viruses to invade their target’s desktop or laptop PC. If you are not aware about spywares or doesn’t care about using tools to remove them, this is the time to start educating yourself. You might be putting your daughter’s security in jeopardy by doing and acting so.
Family Watch Dog uses a mapping tool in order to locate convicted sexual predators. You can check their official website to check if there are nearby convicted sex criminals in your neighborhood.
This is a good start to ensure our children’s safety against these online perpetrators. However, you should be mindful that not all sex offenders are indexed on this database. In other words, the systems still has limitations. And thus, it is better to equip ourselves with personal security measures against these cyber criminals.

Neal Parker

The famous drag racer, Neal Parker, got killed during a drag racing event on the race track that was situated in his home town. Parker was fifty eight years old when his life ended. He drove the car named “Top Alcohol Funny Car”. The dreaded disaster regarding the drag racer is the second fatal accident at the NHA event on the raceway of English town during a period of two years. Before this accident, another race driver lost his life during the same event in 2008. In 2008, on the 21st of June, the drag racing champion Scott Kalitta took his last breaths at the Township Raceway Park after going through a fatal accident.

Neal Parker’s life and his career ended on last Friday. Parker was racing for the qualification round when his car crashed at the end of the raceway and killed him. The drag race began normally; as the race progressed the spectators were unaware of the terrible catastrophe that awaited the driver of the Top Alcohol Funny Car. At the finishing moments of the drag race, the parachute that was required to stop the drag racing machine did not deploy from the rear end of the car. Resultantly, the car slammed into the closing region of the track and caught fire right away. According to witnesses, Neal Parker lost control over his car. At the time of collision the car was moving at a great speed so the horrid fate of the driver was inevitable.

Following the accident, NHRA released a statement to the press in which the unfortunate news regarding the death of Neal Parker was announced.

Arkansas Flooding

The Albert Pike Campground, located in Arkansas was the victim of a flash flood that swept a number of campers away. The flash floods occurred overnight in the campground, and there have been numerous incidents that have occurred across the region that are similar.
This has been the deadliest rainy season in recent memory in the state. One flood did kill 237 people in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1972. It was the worst rain related disaster that the country has ever seen in recent years. A flash flood in 1889 that was caused by a broken dam killed more than 2,000 people in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

The floods occur after an intense rain that pushed the rivers in the area to flood suddenly and unexpectedly. Since most of the rainfall came in the middle of the night, when the rivers flooded they quickly filled the valley that was full of people sleeping in their campgrounds that were spread throughout the camping spot, including Albert Pike Campground.

Because the area is also home to many different mountain rangers, they have been used to flooding in the past, but never the flash floods that were experienced last night. Flooding in general typically kills more than 100 people every year, and causes over 75,000 Americans to be evacuated from their houses.

Flash floods are the most common cause of flood related deaths each year. Because they strike quickly, with such force, they can not be predicted and are very destructive as the water tears down the paths.

Barbara Boxer

Barbara Boxer:The overall election contest between California Senator Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina has only just begun, but even in a year when the main concern of voters is the economy, is already shaping up to be a potentially vicious battle on the right to abortion.

Although Boxer has been a champion of rights groups to abortion, Fiorina has said he supports overturning Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court ruling in 1973 that legalized abortion. And their endorsements by major groups opposed to abortion, including the California Prolife Council, and Susan B. List Anthony, helped solidify his credentials as a conservative during the primary competition.

Fiorina’s position puts it at odds with most California voters. Last year, two thirds of Californians said they opposed overturning Roe v. Wade, according to a poll by the Public Policy Institute of California. Among independents – which would be essential for offering to defeat Boxer Fiorina since Democrats outnumber Republicans in California – only 28% said they favored, completely overturning a decision of 1973.

During an interview from Washington on Tuesday, Boxer said Fiorina’s position on abortion was out of step with most voters. “She wants to be a crime, and that means that women and doctors in jail,” said Boxer. “That is so out of touch with Californians.”

On the morning of Wednesday in Anaheim, Fiorina did not directly answer a question about whether there should be criminal penalties for women and doctors in Roe v. Wade would be overturned.
But when asked about Boxer charge, she replied: “That’s a ridiculous claim.”

“I believe in the sanctity of life, but the vast majority of Californians disagree with Barbara Boxer, who believes that taxpayers should receive funding for partial birth abortion,” said Fiorina, told reporters after his speech at a Republican breakfast in Anaheim. “Barbara Boxer is really trying to change the subject. The issue in this election is jobs. The issue in this election is beyond government control.”

I hope this issue Russell Crowe dead is just another Twitter / Facebook fake, like other jokes RIP on these social sites. That would be better, that this accident to be true.

Alabama Beach Resort

Oil from the massive spill in the Gulf has moved into the inland waterway along coastal Alabama, prompting the U.S. Coast Guard to close Perdido Pass, the main water access route for fishermen and boaters in the popular resort town of Orange Beach.

BP and the government have tried to protect the pass for weeks with thousands of feet of boom, but thick waves of oil have seeped into the pass and down the waterway, coating the marshy shoreline as it moves through.

People in the community are frustrated, watching the massive oil spill ruin, not only the once pristine beaches and turquoise water of the Gulf, but their livelihood, as well.

Chris Ybarra owns Cotton's Restaurant on Orange Beach Boulevard, the main drag through the seaside resort town that should be bustling with tourists and activities this time of year.

The beach is only about 200 yards from his building, but Ybarra said his business is dwindling.

"It's definitely on the decline. People are canceling their reservations and it's definitely beginning to hurt more than it did a month ago," he said.

Ybarra has been in business for 25 years, specializing in surf and turf, fresh seafood and steak. But that's a potential problem now that 33 percent of the Gulf in his neck of the woods is off-limits for fishing.

Ybarra said he's more fortunate than many of his neighbors, and he can easily diversify.

"If I have to go to selling freshwater catfish or primarily serving steaks or chickens, then that's something that I'm going to certainly look at to try and maintain the stability of my business," he said.

Ybarra says his friends, neighbors and fellow business owners have all faced adversity before, primarily from the devastation of hurricanes, but have always come out on top, always rebuilding and moving forward. However, he said the oil crisis is very different.

"The problem we're having with this is the uncertainty. It's very exasperating because it's like an emotional roller coaster," he said.

Ybarra said BP and the government don't seem to know how to respond to the ongoing disaster.

iReport: Track the oil disaster

"Some days they're saying it's been pushed out and it's not coming, then other days they're saying it's here," he said. "So from a resident standpoint, it's like an emotional roller coaster.

"It is taking its toll on people emotionally because a lot of folks are really attached to this community and have put their whole life and livelihood in a lot of different businesses to be able to live her and stay here and create an environment they can work in and prosper from."

The second first daughter, Sasha Obama, had to be embarrassed when her mom and dad visited school with scores of Secret Service and high-intensity security sweeps. After all, it was the last day of school! According to the Associated Press:

"President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama attended two school functions for their daughters, 11-year-old Malia and 8-year-old Sasha.
The parents traveled to Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Md., for a morning event with Sasha.
Reporters were not allowed inside the schools, and White House officials would not describe the events the Obamas attended."

Glad to see the reporters and Paparazzi respect SOMETHING these days....

Carrie Underwood showed Taylor Swift  just who the real queen of country music is with her two big wins at Wednesday's CMT Music Awards. The one-time "American Idol" champ prevailed in another public vote as her video for "Cowboy Casanova" took the top award while her rendition of "Temporary Home" on the CMT show "Invitation Only" won the performance prize.

Taylor Swift went into the night with three nominations, including bids for video of the year and female video for "You Belong to Me." The teen singing sensation won both those awards last year for "Love Story" and in 2008 for "Our Song." Both Swift and Underwood lost the female video race to Miranda Lambert, who took home her first CMT award for "White Liar." Swift's third unsuccessful bid this year was in the collaborative video category for her duet with Kellie Pickler on "Best Days of Your Life." That award was won by Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins ("Hillbilly Bone").

Three years ago, Carrie Underwood also won both video of the year and female video for "Before He Cheats."  In the nine years of these awards, four performers have now taken the top prize twice, with Keith Urban ("Better Life," 2006; "Days Go By," 2005) and Toby Keith ("American Soldier," 2004; "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," 2003) being the others. Urban won the male video award for the first time this year for "’Til Summer Comes Around" while Keith lost his top video bid for "American Ride."

Lady Antebellum won group video for the first time ("Need You Now") while the soon-to-split Brooks & Dunn won the duo video award for the first time since 2002 for "Indian Summer." Luke Bryan delivered the breakthrough video ("Do I") and helmer Shaun Silva won an award for his body of work.

Fans voted online to determine both the nominees and eventual winners in eight of the nine categories. Voting for video of the year was different. There were 10 semifinalists, which were cut down to a final five revealed at the start of the award ceremony which aired live on CMT from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. Votes cast online and via text-message during the kudocast gave Underwood the edge over Keith, Lady Antebellum, Lambert and Swift.`

Paula Deen and her husband Michael Anthony Groover fired their housekeeper after they caught her with jewelry.

SAVANNAH, Georgia - Police say a housekeeper stole and tried to pawn thousands of dollars worth of jewelry belonging to Food Network star and celebrity chef Paula Deen.

Savannah-Chatham police tell the Savannah Morning News they went to Deen's Wilmington Island home on May 3 on a report of about $100,000 worth of men's and women's jewelry that had vanished within the past year.

Deen's husband Michael Anthony Groover told police the couple had caught housekeeper 47-year-old Mary Alice White with some jewelry and had fired her.

Authorities charged White on May 5 with theft. They say she was caught trying to pawn a pair of $18,000 earrings at a Savannah pawnshop.

When contacted by The Associated Press, White denied the allegations and hung up.

Salma Hayek and Maria Bello rightfully freaked out when they saw a snake during an interview with 'Extra!' to promote their upcoming 'Grown Ups.'

Hayek's shrieks and cries for help surpassed those of her costar, and she was even carried off the set after climbing onto Maya Rudolph's neighboring chair.

"Somebody do something!" she shrieked as she climbed over. "Noooooo! Ahhhhhh!"

Dutch PM as Party Leader Resign

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende resigned Wednesday as leader of the Christian Democratic Alliance after exit polls from the country's national elections projected that his party would lose 20 of its 41 parliamentary seats.

Balkenende, who also gave up his seat in parliament, will remain in office as prime minister until a new coalition government is formed, said Xander van der Wulp, political editor for CNN affiliate NOS.

That process could take months because no clear winner was projected in Wednesday's elections.

The exit polls showed the center-right Liberal Party and center-left Labor Party tying with 31 seats each, while the far-right, anti-Islam Freedom Party of controversial Dutch politician Geert Wilders more than doubled its seats, going from nine to 23 -- far ahead of analyst expectations.

With its strong showing at the polls, there was speculation that the Freedom Party could play a role in a forthcoming coalition government.

Opinion polls earlier had predicted the Liberal Party, led by Mark Rutte, would come out on top. Rutte had promised to lower taxes and dramatically slash government spending to bring the country's budget quickly back to surplus.

Former Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen's Labor Party was the other major contender in Wednesday's election. As mayor, Cohen built a strong reputation for easing community tensions by extending friendship and showing tolerance to the city's Muslims.

It was Labor's withdrawal from the coalition government earlier this year in a dispute over troops in Afghanistan that set the stage for the current elections. The issue has barely surfaced in the campaign.

The Liberal Party's Rutte has suggested he may be willing to form a coalition with Wilders' Freedom Party, but the choice could be divisive. Wilders has become internationally famous for his fight against the "Islamization" of the Netherlands.

"I believe we should have a stop of the mass immigration from Islamic countries," he said in an interview, "not because the people are bad, but because they bring a culture that really is against everything in our own values."

Wilders is currently facing trial on charges of inciting discrimination and hatred, charges related in part to his much-criticized film about Islam, "Fitna." The trial is expected to get under way later this year.

Wilders is also charged with offending a group of people, which relates to his comparison of Islam to Nazism.

The charges relate to comments Wilders made in a variety of media between 2006 and 2008, including an October 2006 interview with the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant in which he said he wanted to stop the "tsunami of Islamization," and another in September 2007 with Radio Netherlands in which he said the Quran should be banned.

"Fitna," which Wilders released online in March 2008 to international outcry, is also part of the charges against him. The film features disturbing images of terrorist acts superimposed over verses from the Quran in order to paint Islam as a threat to Western society.

Wilders would face up to two years in prison and a fine of 19,000 euros (about $23,000) for each charge if convicted.

And though she is the covergirl for Pl**yboy in July (with an 8-page pictorial interior), Natasha says that nudity common in the HBO series gave him pause.

“I’d never done nudity. I had to overcome some things in my head to do it,” the former “Bold and the Beautiful” actress tells the magazine. “[Then] here is Alexander Skarsgard. He drops his robe, and he is not wearing a sock – nothing. It’s just totally out there, walking as if nothing is happening. I was like, ‘If he can do it, I can do it ‘. ”

She also expressed appreciation for Eric’s right hand (a), Pam (Kristin Bauer).

“She has that kind of witty S-EX-uality and evil of it. She is very S-EX-y and she has big lips and beautiful.”

While S-EX-uality in “True Blood” is best described as “fluid” and Natasha herself as delved into both sides of the fence, which claims to have found itself after an affair with a female model companions.

Elton John

It's not clear what's more shocking about Rush Limbaugh's weekend wedding: A) That it happened at all -- four marriages! -- or B) That the conservative firebrand was able to coax gay icon Elton John to perform at the reception. Given Limbaugh's past insensitive statements about homosexuals and his outspoken opposition to gay marriage, the LGBT community is none too pleased with Sir Elton, who according to widespread reports was paid $1 million to tickle the ivory at the radio host's marriage to Kathryn Rogers on Saturday night.

While GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has declined PopEater's request for comment on the matter, incensed readers and editors of The Advocate and Out Magazine, not to mention gay-centric blogs, have already begun unleashing on the singer.

"I'm flabbergasted," Aaron Hicklin, Editor-in-Chief of Out, tells us. "It betrays either ignorance or self-interest or both, and jeopardizes his admirable record on gay rights."

Readers across the spectrum have been equally critical of John, who is in a civil union with his longtime partner, David Furnish.

"What a pathetic excuse for a human being, and I'm talking about Elton John," sniped an Advocate reader named Liam. "SHAME ON YOU ELTON."

Another reader, the_real_sweedie, was even more blunt, saying "This is such a hypocritical thing to do. It just shows that anyone can be bought, regardless of how much integrity one loses. He doesn't care about the gay culture at all, it's very clear here."

Other guests at Limbaugh's wedding, held at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, included actor-politician Fred Thompson, FOX News host Sean Hannity and former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. A set list has not been leaked, but one can assume hits like 'Bennie and the Jets' and 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' were played.

On his wildly popular radio show, Limbaugh usually reserves his barbs for Democrats, environmentalists and all things liberal. But on occasion, the 59-year-old entertainer has brought homosexuality into the mix.

He once called openly gay Congressman Barney Frank a "banking Queen," and said Democrats will "bend over, grab their ankles, and say, 'Have your way with me" in order to ensure the support of gay voters. Other nuggets: "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it's an invitation" ... "The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit."

Queerty.com, a popular gay blog, lashed out at the 'Rocket Man' for accepting "bloody money" from Limbaugh.

"It will be Rush who writes out the check to Elton for the seven-figure sum; money that, let's all face, Elton doesn't really need," the site writes. "And even if his intention was to donate the cash to a LGBT youth group, it's already bloody money, and tainted."

Village Voice columnist Michael Musto flat-out called John a "whore" during an appearance Monday night on 'Countdown With Keith Olbermann.'

This isn't the first time John has cozied up to someone perceived to be a touch homophobic. His duet with Eminem at the 2001 Grammy Awards turned heads and led to a long friendship between the pair.

Whether John's fans will exit in droves because of the wedding gig remains to be seen. But for one Advocate reader, the damage was done.

"Elton's discs just left my shelf. No more," writes D from Raleigh. "Rush is a boil on the ass of humanity and Elton just licked it!"

Carly Fiorina

California Elections 2010 Results – Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina and California Primaries.  Only in one state can The Terminator possibly be replaced by the former CEO of eBay.  Only in California could two of the nation’s top women CEO’s of all times run for political office with a shot of victory.

Meg Whitman is seeking the Republican nomination for California’s governorship.  Carly Fiorina is also a Republican, and is seeking a Senate nomination.

Of course, if both women win tonight’s elections, they still face Democratic competition from a historically blue state.

Whitman is a billionaire, and used her own money to fund her campaign.  Given that California is all but bankrupt, having a CEO as a governor could be a really good thing.  Whitman has the capabilities to roll up her sleeves and dive right in and try to turn the state back around from the red into the black. Still yet we have yet to see if Californians believe she’s a better candidate than her opponents.

We will keep you informed of the events as they unfold in this heated and exciting political race.  The elections tend to be heated and the nation is watching to see what happens with Whitman and Fiorina in this election.

New Mexico Game And Fish:The New Mexico Game and Fishing Department has unveiled its fishing and stock reports concerning all the waterways within and around the state of New Mexico. The reports are based on the inputs provided by the area officers, local businessmen, guides and anglers and may change with variations in weather conditions, thus affecting the conditions in the lakes and streams.

Spanning water bodies in the Northeast, Northwest, Southwest, Southeast, the West Central and the East Central areas of the state of New Mexico, the report points out that the overall fishing conditions across the state remain satisfactory. The Department is also expected to reveal the results of the online hunting licenses shortly. The licenses will be send to those eligible, while the rejected applicants can claim their application fees.

However, the New Mexico Fishing and Game Department has warned the fishermen and anglers to remain cautious about the weather changes as they can considerably alter lake and other water body conditions. This in turn will force them to change their course of actions.

Star Spangled Banner Lyrics

Spangled Banner Lyrics:“The Star-Spangled Banner” is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from “Defence of Fort McHenry“, a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy ships in Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British drinking song, written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men’s social club in London. “The Anacreontic Song” (or “To Anacreon in Heaven”), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key’s poem and renamed “The Star-Spangled Banner”, it would soon become a well-known American patriotic song. With a range of one and a half octaves, it is known for being difficult to sing. Although the song has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today, with the fourth (“O thus be it ever when free men shall stand…”) added on more formal occasions. In the fourth stanza, Key urged the adoption of “In God is our Trust” as the national motto (“And this be our motto: In God is our Trust”).  The United States adopted the motto “In God We Trust” by law in 1956.

“The Star-Spangled Banner” was recognized for official use by the Navy in 1889 and the President in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931 (46 Stat. 1508, codified at 36 U.S.C. § 301), which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

On September 3, 1814, Francis Scott Key and John Stuart Skinner set sail from Baltimore aboard the ship HMS Minden, flying a flag of truce on a mission approved by President James Madison. Their objective was to secure the exchange of prisoners, one of whom was Dr. William Beanes, the elderly and popular town physician of Upper Marlboro and a friend of Key’s who had been captured in his home. Beanes was accused of aiding the arrest of British soldiers. Key and Skinner boarded the British flagship HMS Tonnant on September 7 and spoke with Major General Robert Ross and then-Vice Admiral Alexander Cochrane over dinner while the two officers discussed war plans. At first, Ross and Cochrane refused to release Beanes, but relented after Key and Skinner showed them letters written by wounded British prisoners praising Beanes and other Americans for their kind treatment.

Because Key and Skinner had heard details of the plans for the attack on Baltimore, they were held captive until after the battle, first aboard HMS Surprise and later back on the HMS Minden. After the bombardment, certain British gunboats attempted to slip past the fort and effect a landing in a cove to the west of it, but they were turned away by fire from nearby Fort Covington, the city’s last line of defense.

During the rainy night, Key had witnessed the bombardment and observed that the fort’s smaller “storm flag” continued to fly, but once the shell and Congreve rocket  barrage had stopped, he would not know how the battle had turned out until dawn. By then, the storm flag had been lowered and the larger flag had been raised.

Key was inspired by the American victory and the sight of the large American flag flying triumphantly above the fort. This flag, with fifteen stars and fifteen stripes, came to be known as the Star Spangled Banner Flag and is today on display in the National Museum of American History, a treasure of the Smithsonian Institution. It was restored in 1914 by Amelia Fowler, and again in 1998 as part of an ongoing conservation program.

Aboard the ship the next day, Key wrote a poem on the back of a letter he had kept in his pocket. At twilight on 16 September, he and Skinner were released in Baltimore. He completed the poem at the Indian Queen Hotel, where he was staying, and entitled it “Defence of Fort McHenry.”

Interestingly, much of the idea of the poem and even some of the wording is arguably derived from an earlier song by Key, also set to the tune of The Anacreontic Song. The song, known as “When the Warrior Returns,”  is said to have been written in honor of Stephen Decatur and Charles Stewart on their return from the First Barbary War.

O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Allscripts

NEW YORK — The health care information technology company Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Inc. is buying rival Eclipsys Corp. for about $1.3 billion in stock, the companies said Wednesday.

Allscripts is a leader in providing physicians and their offices with ways to keep tabs on patient care records while Eclipsys provides similar services for hospitals and health systems. Those records include test results and medical histories.

The combined company's client base will include over 180,000 U.S. physicians, 1,500 hospitals, and nearly 10,000 nursing homes, hospices and home care organizations, the companies said.

The combined company's increased size and resources may also give its clients greater access to about $30 billion in federal funding for hospital and physician adoption of electronic health records as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the companies said. The incentives, which aim to shift the health care system to more efficient portable electronic records from paper records, begin in 2011.

"For the first time, we have a company with the size, scale and reach to allow that to happen, said Allscripts Chairman and CEO Glen Tullman, citing the shift to electronic records. "Think of this as doing what the Internet did for computers."

Adoption of electronic records by physicians is projected to grow from 12 percent to 90 percent by 2019, the companies said, citing a Congressional Budget Office's March 2009 report. That same report said total spending on health care services would shrink because of the reduction in paperwork and inappropriate tests, along with lower administrative overhead. The report did not provide an estimate, but said there would likely be lower costs for private payers and lower health insurance premiums in the private sector.

Under the deal, Eclipsys shareholders will receive 1.2 Allscripts shares for each Eclipsys share, a 19 percent premium over its closing price Tuesday, the companies said.

Shares of Allscripts, based in Chicago, fell $1.66, or 9 percent, to $16.76 in morning trading Wednesday while shares of Eclipsys, based in Atlanta, rose 53 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $19.04.

Allscripts' Tullman will be CEO of the combined company while Eclipsys CEO Phil Pead will be chairman.

The deal has been approved by both companies' boards of directors and is subject to shareholder approval of both companies.

Separately, the British information services company Misys PLC will reduce its almost 55 percent stake in Allscripts to 10 percent through an underwritten secondary equity offering of its Allscripts shares and by selling shares to Allscripts.

Misys acquired a 54.5 percent stake in Allscripts for $330 million in 2008.

In a separate deal in the healthcare technology field, Cardinal Health Inc. said Wednesday it is buying Healthcare Solutions Holding LLC for $517 million, in a move to expand its tools and services for health care data and claims management.

UBS, Barclays Capital and J.P. Morgan acted as financial advisors to Allscripts in the Eclipsys deal.

Allscripts expects its buyout of Eclipsys to boost net income, excluding charges, in 2011. The company expects its fiscal year net income in 2010 to reach the high end of its 64 cents to 65 cents per share guidance, excluding charges, on revenue between $700 million and $705 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect net income of 65 cents per share on $702.3 million in revenue.

The fiscal year ends in May. After the buyout closes, Allscripts expects to report financial results on a calendar year basis.

John Stamos

When you’re watching tonight’s season finale of Glee, and Emma mentions that she’s been dating her dentist, go ahead and draw yourself a mental picture of… John Stamos!

Yup, I hear the Fox hit and the actor formerly known as Uncle Jesse are nearing a deal for him to recur next season as Will’s competition for the cutest neurotic at McKinley High.

And if the agreement gets made, bet on a sing-off between her two suitors: Though Stamos is best known for his TV roles, he’s also got street cred on Broadway, having appeared in such musicals as Bye Bye Birdie.

Your thoughts?

Strasburg

WASHINGTON - Over-hyped? Are you kidding? Stephen Strasburg went beyond the hype — and anyone’s reasonable expectations — by striking out 14 batters in his electric major league debut.

With a standing-room-only crowd cheering every pitch, the Washington Nationals phenom put on a dazzling display of power pitching Tuesday night in a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. His heaters reached 100 mph, and batters found his nasty curveballs nearly impossible to hit.

“I just wanted to go out and soak up everything. It only happens once and I’ve been waiting for this my whole life,” Strasburg said.

Peyton Manning

Bill Polian is ready to make a deal with Peyton Manning.

Getting it done in this labor market could still make it tricky.

The Colts president told reporters Monday he was confident Indianapolis would re-sign the four-time MVP before his current contract expires after the 2010 season.

"There's probably some likelihood that that will happen," Polian said during Jim Kelly's charity golf tournament in Batavia, N.Y. "But there's a lot of work that we can do between then and now to lay groundwork and cover areas that we need to cover and talk about various different structures, and we'll do that."

Money is not expected to be the major impediment.

Colts owner Jim Irsay has already said he'll make Manning the league's highest-paid player and called the negotiations one of the team's biggest offseason priorities.

The problem: With an uncapped 2010 season and no collective bargaining agreement to guide teams in 2011 and beyond, Polian must figure out how to structure the deal so it doesn't leave the Colts at a disadvantage -- and do it almost blindly.

"Everybody's in the same boat. Players are in the same boat, clubs are in the same boat," Polian said. "None of us know what's involved and what the system will be like going forward. When that's resolved, those other situations will resolve themselves."

Polian, who helped create the league's salary cap in the 1990s, has been a master at crunching numbers. The list of Indy players with contract values of $30 million or more include Manning, Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Bob Sanders, Robert Mathis and Kelvin Hayden. Manning, of course, has the richest contract -- $98 million.

Unlike other teams that have struggled to remain competitive with a glut of high-priced stars, Polian has managed to find low-priced help in the draft and in free agency, and nobody can quibble with the results.

Indy has won at least 12 games in a league-record seven straight seasons, made eight straight playoff appearances, played in two Super Bowls and won one.

But the burden for extending that streak falls to the 34-year-old quarterback with the big right arm.

Since Polian took Manning with the No. 1 pick in the 1998 draft, Manning has broken every significant passing record in franchise history and has helped the team go from league laughingstock to league model. He has never missed a start, set an NFL record by winning his fourth MVP Award last season and also earned Super Bowl MVP honors following the 2006 season.

As one of the league's biggest personalities, Manning also has become an unofficial spokesman for all things NFL -- all things except contract negotiations.

"No update there," Manning said Friday, after the first day of the team's mandatory weekend mini-camp. "I've never commented in the past on the contract and I'm not going to start now, 13 years into it."

Manning isn't the only Colts player who could be affected by the NFL's labor situation.

Three Pro Bowlers -- safety Antoine Bethea, Mathis and Wayne -- skipped last weekend's three-day mandatory mini-camp because of contract issues.

Bethea has not yet signed the team's $2.521 million one-year tender, so he was not required to participate. Mathis and Wayne stayed home because they want new deals. Both have two years left on their current contracts.

Polian acknowledged Saturday, through a team spokesman, that he has spoken with the agents for Mathis and Wayne and explained the predicament Indy faces without a new collective bargaining agreement in place. Everyone in the organization expects those three to report on time for training camp.

"I definitely understand the business side of it," defensive captain Gary Brackett said. "But I'm very confident that when the time comes, everyone will be here."

Including Manning, who is in the final year of his deal.

There's little doubt he will be back in a Colts uniform next season. Polian just has to figure out how to get it done.

"We don't have an agreement, and we don't know what the agreement might be going forward. That's the absolute worst place to be. Now, in our case, we do have some players, including Peyton, whose contracts are expiring after this season," Polian said. "However you look at it, we're in uncharted waters. We're just going to have to wait and see what transpires."

When Downs was brought to trial, in 1984, she was pregnant with another child, and gave birth to a baby girl 10 days before her sentencing. The girl, Rebecca Babcock, was adopted. She found out at age 16, according to ABC, that Downs was her birth mother.

Rebecca Babcock  grew up with her adopted parents just 100 miles away from her biological mother. Her story became public just days before on ABC. Babcock always knew that she had been adopted, but was shocked to learn that she was the daughter of a convicted murderer.
