It took about 5 months for the competition to be narrowed down to the final 2 contestants, and now the votes are in and the results announced - Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze will sing off in the finals. Casey James went home Wednesday night.
The results show Wednesday night featured footage from each of the Top 3's visits home as well as performances by new singer, Travis Garland singing "Believe" and Justin Bieber, who sang "U Smile" and "Baby."
Casey James went home to Texas over the weekend and visited Cool, his hometown, and Forth Worth. As part of his visit, he stopped by the hospital where he was treated after an accident and thanked his doctor and the nursing staff.
Crystal Bowersox returned to Northwest Ohio and greeted fans in Toledo. She went to her father's house for a get together with her baby son and family.
Lee DeWyze went back to Chicago where he was given the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field. He visited his elementary school and greeted the kids and also made a stop at the paint shop where he worked prior to his Idol experience.
The results show illustrated how far each of the Top 3 have come to get to this point in the competition. All 3 have much to be proud of, and YA Pop Culture, which has been writing about American Idol for 5 months now, congratulates them all.
Good luck to Casey as he embarks on his own career, and good luck also to Crystal and Lee as they face off for the final round of competition next week!
