Since 2006, members of the radical direct action environmentalist group Sea Shepherd have sailed into the Antarctic Ocean to attempt to block and prevent Japanese whaling. Since 2007, it has done so with Animal Planet camera crews onboard. In 2010 Animal Planet is expected to broadcast the third season of the controversial show produced from this footage, “Whale Wars.”
