After checking the Google trending topics for tonight, I was surprised to see "Legally Blondes" right up there with current events. Why was this spinoff of Reese Witherspoon's hit movie, technically Legally Blonde 3, trending one year after its debut? The answer? Justin Bieber.
Tonight on twitter the teen pop sensation, Justin Bieber, tweeted:"Wow that was the longest flight eveerrrrr. Atleast I caught some zzz and watched legally blonde 1 and 2 haahahaah"
Apparently Bieber holds the news world in his hand, controlled by his twitter acount. Legally Blondes is the third installment of the Legally Blonde franchise; however, the previous star of the movie, Reese Witherspoon, became the director and producer. The movie premiered on the Disney and ABC Family channel...a sign that it was not a high-quality movie targeting adults. It centered around the British twin cousins of Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon's past character. The rest of the plot is a fluffy teen drama that hollowly recreates past scenes in the movies.
It's interesting how the whim of a 16 year old celebrity can instantly set the internet world abuzz, propelling a dull movie to one of the most searched topics on the internet. I guess this just goes to show the power of celebrity influence.
