John Travolta

HOLLYWOOD star John Travolta has suffered new heartache after two of his dogs died at an airport.

They were hit by a service truck as they were being walked on the tarmac.

The Pulp Fiction star, 56, an experienced pilot, had just landed his own jet.

The dogs were being taken for a walk but the driver of an airport truck, heading to service the plane, did not see them. Both dogs were killed.

The walker - believed to be one of the Travolta family's staff - was unhurt.

It happened at Bangor Airport in Maine.

Travolta and actress wife Kelly Preston, 47, own a home on Islesboro, an island off the coast of Maine, where fellow actors Chris O'Donnell and Kirstie Allie also live.

In January 2009, their 16-year-old son Jett died after having a seizure at their holiday home in the Bahamas. They have a 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.

Travolta was last seen in From Paris With Love, co-starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, in which Preston had an uncredited appearance.

Airport authorites are investigating last Thursday's accident.
