The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Colleen Karis Designs LLC on Thursday announced a voluntary recall of approximately 380 all-star basketball chair and ottoman sets because the lettering on the sides of the chair could contain levels of lead that exceed the federal paint standard, according to a May 27 CPSC press release. No injuries have been reported.
The recalled chair and ottoman set was manufactured in China and was sold nationwide at HomeGoods stores from Feb. '09 through April '10 for $52. Consumers should immediately stop using the set but should NOT return the chair and ottoman set to HomeGoods stores. Instead, contact Colleen Karis Designs and the company will send you shipping materials to box and return the chair and ottoman. Once Colleen Karis Designs has received your returned set, it will send you a check for $52.
