Coca Cola 600

This weekend’s NASCAR race, the Coca Cola 600, is set to kick off today at 5:45 pm ET from Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is the longest race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series of races. Grabbing the pole for today’s race is Ryan Newman. He will be followed by Kurt Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Kasey Kahne, and Jimmy Johnson to round out the top five.

Current Sprint Cup Series point’s leader Kevin Harvick will be starting 23rd today at the Coca Cola 600. He has a 69 point lead over second place driver Kyle Busch. If Harvick hopes to keep his lead in the standings then he will need to move up in today’s race. Jimmy Johnson who was the point’s leader earlier in the season has had some less than favorable results in his past few races and hopes to turn things around today.

Last years Coca Cola 600 winner David Reutimann will be starting sixth today. Today’s race is set to start later in the day as the Indy 500 is also being run today. In the past some drivers have partaken in both races, however this has not happened since 2004. Get ready to sit back and enjoy a full day of car racing and see who captures the checkered flags.
