Broad Street Run 2010

THIS WEEKEND runners continued to jog through, with Sunday seeing at least three major running events - the Broad Street run 2010 in New York, the Pittsburgh Marathon 2010, which saw 16000 runners making their footfalls count and the Flying Pig Marathon 2010, held in Cinncinati. The results for the athletic events, which began in the morning, are also out.
The Broad Street Run 2010 in New York, saw runners not only dealing with fellow runners and the ten mile track, but also the sweltering weather. The run began at 8:30 AM at the Broad Street and Somerville avenue and ended at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

The Broad Street Run 2010 results are out and as per the official website leaderboard, was aced by Alene Reta in the men's catagory, who finished it in 48 minutes, 10 seconds. Ketema Nigusse finished 24 seconds later, while the third place went to Worku Beyi, who finished it in 49 minutes.

In the women's catagory, Buzunesha Deba finished first in 55 minutes and 13 seconds, followed by Alemteshay Misaganaw, who finished in 55:22 and Kellen Waithira who finished in 57:47.

The Pittsburgh Marathon 2010, held in Pittsburgh included a 26.2 mile marathon and a 13.1 mile half marathon. The large scale event, which saw thousands of spectators swelling the number of people at the marathon, also saw a bit of unpleasantness creep in, when a suspected explosive device was found at the finish line.

According to the Pittsburgh Bomb squad, the device was allegedly a microwave oven, which was quickly removed from the scene and detonated at a safe area. A portion of the half marathon track was diverted and the police ensured that there were no untoward incidents.

The Pittsburgh Marathon 2010 results are out and the Pittsburgh Marathon 2010 was won by Kipyegon Kirui who finished in 2:17:12, followed by Wilson Chepkwony who finished in 2:17:44. Third in the men's catagory was Mahammed Awol who finished in 2:19:23. In the women's catagory, the top three runners were Lynnette Wilkinson (2:38:44), Alena Vinitskaya (2:42:33) and Phebe Ko (2:45:50)

In the half marathon catagory, Ryan Sheehan came first, finishing in 1:05:14, followed Mario Marcias 1:05:35 and Paul Langot 1:06:08. In the women's catagpry the top three contestants are Kristin Price (1:17:37), Lisa Cron (1:18:26) and Leah Ahlin (1:21:06).

Lastly, in the Flying Pig Marathon 2010, held in Cinncinati on Sunday, May 2, the winners for the marathon are Brian List (2:31:56), followed by Tilahun Abebe (2:34:41) and Rob Morwood (2:36:07), who finished third among men. In women, Cynthia Arnold  (2:54:59) finished first, followed by Marnie Staehly (2:58:26) and Rachel Bea (3:02:27).
