Loyal fans of "24" remained true to flawed superagent Jack Bauer right up to the end.
Monday's two-hour series finale of "24" snared nearly 9 million viewers, on par with what the veteran Fox series averaged in its final season.
"24" picked up an extra million viewers in its second hour (9-10 p.m.), when viewership rose from 8.3 million to 9.3 million.
Viewership might have been even bigger if "24" was going away for good, and fans felt the need for closure.
But series star Kiefer Sutherland, and series co-creator Howard Gordon, have plans to bring Jack Bauer to the big screen in a "24" movie -- which reportedly will find Jack battling the bad guys in Europe.
