Light heavyweight Phil Davis forced Tim Boetsch to tap with a shoulder lock at 2:55 of the second round at UFC 123.

Boetsch landed first with a leg kick that invited a head kick counter from Davis. They traded more leg kicks. Boetsch fired some punches, took some leg kicks then caught a kick and tried to sweep Davis. Boetsch shot in for a single leg then clipped Davis on the back of the head on the break. Davis then caught him with double underhooks and slammed Boetsch to the ground. Davis landed in half guard. Davis punched to the body and worked rights to the head as well. Then the elbows began to land. Boetsch got to full guard but Davis quickly got back to half guard and began the barrage of strikes again. Boetsch stood up but Davis clinched immediately and landed a series of knees.
