Black Velvet

Simon Fuller picks Alannah Myles' hit Black Velvet for Crystal Bowersox. It's a smoky, bluesy number -- a pop song, for sure, but with allusions to folk and blues -- and if Crystal's going to be an American Idol, she needs to be able to do the pop thing, at least occasionally. She has about the same amount of trouble with her notes that Lee did, but she's doing more vocally with the song. She's going for the big notes full-tilt. If this show still comes down to the glory notes -- which I'm not completely convinced it does -- this round goes to Crystal.

"This is what I'm talking about!" Randy exclaims. "Mama Sox is in it to win it!"

"That was fan-tastic!" says Ellen.

"Tonight is the night to give it your all, to kill yourself on that stage," says Kara -- and then my signal goes out.

Simon says he's almost allergic to that song, having heard so many bad auditions with it. But, "you took that song and you absolutely nailed it."

Everybody Hurts Lyrics

Everybody Hurts Lyrics. Lee Dewyze sang Everybody Hurts as his second song on American Idol 9 finale. Watch the other performances of Lee Dewyze here.

Everybody Hurts Lyrics
When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts. You are not alone
